AWS Weekly Roundup: Amazon EC2, Amazon Q Developer, IPv6 Updates and others (September 1, 2025) | Amazon Web Services

My LinkedIn source was absolutely packed this week’s pictures from the AWS Heroes Summit in Seattle. It was cordial to see so many familiar faces and new heroes.

AWS HEROES SUMMIT 2025

For those who are not familiar with the AWS Heroes program, it is a global initiative for community recognition that honors individuals who contribute to the AWS community. These heroes share their deep knowledge of AWS by creating content, talking about events, organizing community assemblies, and contributing to projects with open source code.

The AWS Heroes Summit combines these exceptional communities leaders and provides a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge, networking and cooperation. As someone who regularly interacts with heroes through our AWS initiatives, I always consider these summits invalid – offer deep technical discussions, timely access to AWS plans and opportunities to provide direct feedback to AWS teams. The knowledge and connections at these events are often reflected in better sources and guidance for the wider AWS community.

Start of Last Week

In addition to this inspiration community, there are several AWS starts that captivated me:

  • The AWS Expand Internet Protocol V6 (IPv6) supports AWS App Runner, AWS Customer VPN and RDS Data API – the next three AWS now support IPv6, help you meet compliance requirements and remove the need to process the translation between IPv4 and IPv6. AS AP Runner now based on incoming and outgoing OPV6 operations at Runner Service End points for public and private applications. AWS Customer VPN has announced support for remote access to IPv6 workload, allowing you to create a secure VPN connection with your VPC resources with IPv6 support. Finlly, RDS Data API now supports IPv6, allowing you to connect dual stack configuration (IPv4 and IPv6) for your Aurora databases.
  • This week we launched two new instances families: new storage-optimized i8GE and generally accounting instances of M8i-naš instance i8GE, powered AWS Gratiton4 processors, will be reserved by up to 60% better calculation compared to their predecessors Graviton2. These instances have a third generation SSD Nitro and provide up to 55% better real -time storage performance on TB and significantly lower I/O latency. With 120 TB of storage and size up to 48xlage (including two metal options), they offer the highest storage density between instances optimized for graviton -based storage. We have also launched the M8i and M8i-Flex instances using its own Intel Xeon 6 processors. These instances bring up to 15% better price and performance and 2.5 times more bandwidth than their predecessors. The M8i-Flex instances are ideal for workload of general-purpus, which are available from large to 16xlage. To request applications, you can choose from our M8i instances with SAP certification in 13 sizes, include 2 bare metal options and a new 96xLair size.
  • Amazon EC2 Mac Dedica hosts now support the host and reboot maintenance of the host-you can allow two new features for your hosts EC2 Mac: revival of the host and maintenance of the host-based host. The host recovery automatically detects potential hardware problems with Mac dedicated hosts and smoothly migrates MAC instances on new spare hosts, minimizing the disturbance of workload. The host maintenance based on a restart will automatically stop and restart instances on spare hosts, if there are planned maintenance events, it eliminates the need for manual intervention during the planned maintenance windows.
  • Amazon Q Developer now supports MCP Admin Control – administrators now have the ability to enable or deactivate the functionality of MCP for all customers of developers Q in their organization. When the administrator deactivates functionality, users will not be able to add any MCP servers, nor will there be any previously defined servers initialized.

More AWS messages

Here are several other projects and blog posts that could consider interesting:

  • Mastering Amazon Q Developer with Rules – I have read an interesting article about the feature of Amazon Q Developer’s Rules this weekend that I want to share with you. I was attracted by how it solves the point of pain, which I often encourage when working with AI AI – I have to repeatedly explain my preferences and coding standards. With the rules you define your preferences once in Markdown files and Amazon Q developer automatically monitors them for every interaction. I especially like how transparent the system is, which shows which rules follow and how it helps to maintain consistency across teams. Sincere implementation of the rules in my projects, the day consists of a quality code, all this while reducing the cognitive burden that it must repeatedly explain our standard.
  • Strategy for excel in all four domains of certified machine learning AWS – special certification. The AWS Training & Certification Team, where I spent the first three years in AWS, shared how to prepare for AWS Certified Machine Learning – Special Certification, whether you start from scratch or build on existing AWS certification. They share the prerequisites and instructions to help you prepare for this certification and demonstrate your expertise in creating ML solutions with AWS.
  • As now, tradition is the main day, we shared an impressive metric showing how AWS services have been adjusted to support one of the big shopping events in the world. Amazon Prime Day 2025 was the largest floor and set records for the volume of sales and total items sold during a four -day event. This year it was particularly strange when we saw a side transformation in the main daily experience through progress in our generative AI offers, while customers were used by Alexa+, Rufus and AI shopping guides to discover offers and get product information. The numbers are overwhelming-amazon dynamodb manipulated by tens of trillion calls of the API, while holding high avilaability, providing a single-digit millisecond response and culminating at 151 million requirements per second. Amazon API Gateway has processed more than 1 trillion requests for internal services – 30 Perits on average increases the requirements compared to the main day of 2024 on average.

Upcoming AWS events
Check your calendars and register for these upcoming AWS events:

  • AWS Summits-are connected to free online and personal events that connect the Cloud Computing community to join, cooperate and learn about AWS. Register in your nearest town: Toronto (September 4), Los Angeles (September 17) and Bogota (October 9).
  • AWS Re: Invent 2025 – This flag annual conference comes to Las Vegas from 1 – 5 December. The event catalog is now available. Mark your calendars not to miss the AWS community.
  • The AWS-with community days have joined the community conferences containing technical discussions, workshops and practical laboratories led by AWS users and industry leaders from around the world: Adria (September 5), Baltic (September 10), Aotearoa (September 18), South Africa (September 20).

Join the AWS Builder Center and learn, build and connect with builders in the AWS community. Walk here for the upcoming events focused on personal and virtual developers.

That’s all for this week. See the next Monday for the next week round!
